Google revealed 11 security flaws in Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.
In just one week, Google experts found many security flaws in one of Samsung’s Android devices, Galaxy S6 Edge.
The job of the Project Zero, Google’s team of security experts is to find previously unknown bugs and security holes. When it comes to Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, the team found “11 “high-impact security issues”.
“A week of investigation showed that there are a number of weak points in the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. Over the course of a week, we found a total of 11 issues with a serious security impact,” Project Zero blogged.
“Several issues were found in device drivers and image processing, and there were also some logic issues in the device that were high impact and easy-to-exploit,” team added.
Eight out of eleven issues that were found by the Google’s team of experts were fixed right after Google notified Samsung. One of the independent experts pointed out all these issues have a huge impact on the security of the Android operating system, because the flaws “significantly weakened the security.”
A security researcher at the University College London, Dr Steven Murdoch said there is a tension between Google and manufacturers of Android devices “because Google wants to protect its Android brand, and when it comes to security, Android has been quite tarnished.”
Samsung said in a statement remaining bugs will be fixed later this month via a security update.
“Maintaining the trust of the customers is a top priority,” Samsung added.
