Samsung Expects They Will Record In Galaxy Shipments And S6 Edge Shortage

The South Korean electronics giant expects that the company will make a record for its new handset Galaxy S6 shipments and also said that they could face problem to meet the demand of S6 Edge because of production constraints. They also add of hoping for a turnaround in smartphone sales.

The Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge are expected to sell very fast along with receiving positive reviews from the users. 2015 sale may recover the previous sales. This week, Samsung estimated the January-March operating profit which is expected to be highest in its three quarters. Samsung is expecting that the sale of Galaxy S6 will be more than curved body S6 edge which is priced at $120 more at South Korea. But J.K. Shin, the mobile chief said at a media event that held on 9 April that it will be little tough for the firm to supply the S6 edge as per demand because the curved screens make it little harder to manufacture.

According to Greg Roh, the HMC Investment analyst, many carriers switching existing orders in order to get more S6 edge, and it seems that the demand of this model will be more than its supply in the whole year. That means the average selling price will not fall fast, and of course it will have a good impact on Samsung.

The shipment record for this S6 edge is not disclosed by Samsung but according to the analysts Galaxy S3 is the best selling model though Galaxy S4 has done well in its initial year. Samsung launched S3 in 2012 and since then 80 million S3s are sold, whereas 43 million S4s were sold after its launch in April 2013 till the end of that year. According to some analysts, Samsung may ship 50 million or more S6 this year.

J.K. Shin said that Samsung is also working on many wearable devices, one of them is the Gear Smartwatch’s new version, though he did not mention specifics. Samsung’s rival Apple Inc is also going to launch its smartwatch on April 24.
